Surround sound help please?

I have a NAD electronics reciever with the normal red and black connection. Was wondering if i can hook up my sony surround sound speakers by cutting off the connectors at the end and hooking to the red and black

Both your receiver, and speakers, have specs - impedance and wattage. Check them and see what are differences. You want impedances to match (or not differ a lot), and you don't want to blow the 10Wats speakers with 100Wats amp.
