Can anyone help im not sure what kid of problem I have. It is a dual core 2.7 with 6 gb ram. I have checked to see I the ram got jarred loose and is fine. The OS is win 8. It has a white screen with horizontal lines that fade in a minute or so when I open the lid . After that the screen saver pic and lock screen come on an everything works fine.

Sounds like the internal video connector is loose. You may have to open it to ensure the cable/plug has not come loose.

Worst case(and hope not) you damaged part of the screen.

Well that is a strange one. So just the welcome/lock screen looks like that. Can you still see the login fields.

What happens after sleep?

when I turn it on or open the screen it has these random lines. At first it was a 1/4" line across the screen always but now it is white with the line that slowly fades the the pic pops on and all is fine

I am not sure what would cause this type of error, but if the system was on when you dropped it, I would run a hard drive test to ensure no damage has happened to it either.

Windows 8's sleep also uses the hard drive(hibernate + sleep) so you want the hard drive to be 100% as well.
