I have an HP laptop connected the HDMI to tv and Laptop. It says no device connected ?

I have connected my HDMI cable to my tv and laptop. I have an HP laptop with windows ten.
when I request HDMI on my remote it says no device connected.? I have tried to reconnect it several times, but no luck. Could you please advise?

Does the second screen show up in Windows? Did you select the correct HDMI input? Many TVs have more than one.
