I have connected my sony dvd player to my sharp roku tv but it doesn't show picture or sound? What do i need to do?

Red whit yellow on both ends

Assuming that the DVD works select the av input on the TV. If the TV has a shared component-composite video input you will need to set it to composite to get a color picture.
