I have wall mounted speakers installed in my house. These were here when I bought the house.
bought a reciever. hooked it up ran speaker wires to wall speakers to the reciever.
hooked up the 3.5 mm aux cable from aux 3 on the amp/receiver to the green jack on the computer. Nothing, no sound, nothing. HELP>.

Do the speakers work for any type of input to the receiver ?

Is there a testing function in the reciever itself? Most recievers have a speaker test in the settings.

We want to work with as few of "moving parts" as possible here while troubleshooting.

Can you give us the model of your reciever?

First make sure that all the cables you are using are good
Make sure that sound is coming from your PC or not
Make sure your PC out signal type (digital/analog) and make sure that the signal at the receiver is same

If the receiver is good, the speakers are good, the wires are good and the speakers ohms are within the specs, the only thing left is make sure the receiver is set to speakers A and the wires are hooked up at Rear LR speakers output.
