I have been having the same problem but I cannot download Adobe Flash player on my phone as my phone doesn't support it. Does this mean I can never watch some videos on my phone? Interestingly, a friend sent me a video via Facebook Messenger. I couldn't view it there. I then downloaded it on to my phone and I COULD then view the video from my gallery! Why is that?

Adobe Flash Player is browser extension for online use only.. You don't need it to play videos from your computer or phone's HDD/Memory. And since your phone browser doesn't support flash player, it should be using HTML5 that has substituted flash player. By conclusion I'd suspect the issue has something to do with the HTML5 browser setting.

See if this HTML5 Online Test helps determine the cause.

Thanks for your help. I didn't understand the test on the first link as the date doesn't go further than May 2017 and I don't know how to interpret it. On the other link, my browser scored 550/582 for the HTML test.

• Are you accessing the regular youtube website or the mobile website?..
• Have you installed the mobile youtube app?
• Have you played youtube videos online before?

I don't know if I'm accessing the regular YouTube website or the mobile website.

Yes I have installed the mobile YouTube app.

Yes I have played YouTube videos online before. I had no problem until about a few weeks ago.

Hi Tom, I searched for the YouTube app for mobiles
but I couldn't find it so I went to my app and uninstalled the updates. That didn't improve anything but when I went to look at a video that I couldn't previously view, it gave me a choice of using my YouTube app or Google Chrome. I chose YouTube and couldn't view the video then selected Google Chrome. I was pleasantly surprised that I could now watch the video! That proves it was my YouTube app that was preventing me watch the videos!

Thanks for persisting with trying to help me. In future you can help people better by asking them to use Google Chrome rather than YouTube.

Google owns YouTube, the YouTube App and Google Chrome so both applications should work on the YouTube website... that's why the idea didn't cross my mind. Maybe if you remove and reinstall the youtube app it may work.

I can't uninstall and reinstall the YouTube app as it's preinstalled on my phone. Anyway, I could only watch the videos where I had a choice to use Google Chrome so I still couldn't watch all videos because I didn't always get that option. After getting advice to install YouTube for mobile phones I looked on the app store but couldn't find that app, but I did find VLC so I installed that instead. After turning my phone off and on again I can now watch all videos. I have disabled the YouTube app. This problem wasted a lot of my time but I'm glad I finally fixed it. I don't know why I got the problem though.
