I lost the sim card

and I need to reinstall apps that require verification. The biggest problem is that this is something I bought when I was in the Dominican Republic. Is there a way to buy a new sim card and retain the number I had? I don't care about much else but apps like Whatsapp had a lot of business information that I want but can't access via backup without the Whatsapp verification routine.

Any suggestions? I've tried a few things but have not had any success.

contact your mobile service provider to see if they can duplicate one for you.
