Hp laptop geek squad said hard drives bad but want 100 buck to just try to save what's on old hard drive . laptops doing the won't boot up all the way then kinda blue screen help me need for work not even year old

See if it's possible to boot your laptop into safe mode so you can retrieve your data. It appears your warranty covers hardware recovery and not data recovery.
