I want to use my Verizon iphone 6 on Straightalk

I just recently decided to switch from Verizon to Straight Talk. I have a Verizon iphone 6. I was wondering that if I paid off my phone and unlocked it, would I be able to use it for Straight talk?

Hi, I've recently decided to switch over to Straight talk from Verizon. If I pay off my phone with Verizon, do I have to unlock my phone to use it with straight talk? Will it even work if I unlock it or should I just buy a new one?
