I was reading Laserdisc is actually analog...?

so there's no way to get dolby digital out of this player? damn... maybe
when i have more more discs i might upgrade the player

Err....yes and no. In it's current form, no. However an AC-3 output can be
added to your player, couple that with a demodulator and a decoder and you've
got AC-3 sound. But you'd need to have a Coaxial or Optical Digital (Toslink)
added IN ADDITION to the AC-3 output in order to be able to hear PCM digital
soundtracks that aren't encoded in Dolby Digital. However, some of them ARE
encoded in Dolby Surround/Pro-Logic.

Yes and no. Many players dont have a digital output, but have internal
DAC's to convert the digital tracks to the analog red/white jacks on
the back of the player. I am willing to bet that any player built
after 89 or 90 will read the digital tracks.

True. Although I understand that many of them had poor DACs and the digital
audio quality suffered when this was done.
