I wiped the hard drive on my laptop with windows 10 and it should've kept the os but it won't work with my monitor

My laptop screen's been broken for a while now and I've been using an external VGA monitor. I wiped the hard drive and kept the os, but now it won't work with the monitor. What do I do? I've tried the usual things and nothings worked.

Hi,

What I suggested to others who had the same situation with the broken screen is to open the laptop and disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard and connect the external monitor again. The laptop will think that your external monitor is the default display. You should be able to see everything in the external monitor even in BIOS.

Hopefully this will work with yours as well.
