Hi, I am about to buy a new laptop for around 1k$. I am looking for laptop which will be suitable for playing games and programming. I am confused between these two laptops.

1. HP OMEN
i5-7300HQ
RAM: 16GB (DDR4, 2133MHz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX1050

2. MSI PL62
i7-7700HQ
RAM: 16GB (DDR4, 2133MHz)
NVIDIA GeForce MX150

Which one would You recommend? Which one will be better in performance? Or maybe I should look for something completely different.

sorry to bringing up the post but i'd like to ask further

i'm in the some-what almost the same situation here,

i'm planing on use it to
[ work ]
mobility ,light-video-photo editing , mostly drone photography ,and videos (mostly 1080p)

[ light gaming ]
esport title : overwatch / csgo
some other title included a few AAA: BF1 / PUBG ,

i'm deciding between

1.HP OMEN 2016 OR 1.1 MSI GL62
i7-6700HQ same a HP but 960M 2GB , TN screen with better cooling?
8GB DDR4 2133 mhz
GTX 960M 4GB
1TB 5400rpm

2.Acer Nitro 5
i5-7300HQ
8GB DDR4 2400 mhz
GTX 1050 2GB
1TB 5400rpm

both are used-2nd hand / and almost same price in my local its
Acer-570$ (19,900 baht)
HP-580$...
I would get the HP Omen since it has the more powerful GPU.

The i7-7700HQ is only about 300MHz faster than the i5-7300HQ so that is a minor increase in performance for games that are CPU dependent. The i7 also has Hyper Threading (HT) which means each core is capable of executing two threads instead of just one. However, the vast majority of games have not been designed to use HT. Overwatch is the only modern game that I know of which can make use of HT.

The MX150 in the MSI laptop is not as powerful as the GTX 960m, somewhat close, but definitely not equal. The HP Omen is definitely much better for games. Both should be equally fine for programming.

Thanks a lot for Your answer. I am not able to get Dell inspiron in my country for that price unfortunatelly. I have reconsidered my selection and now I am wondering between the HP Omen and these two found on amazon:

1. Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop
i7-7700HQ
RAM: 16GB DDR4
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
256GB SSD
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y4GZS9C/ref=psdc_13896615011_t1_B01MRW12RC

2. ASUS ROG Strix GL553VE
i7-7700HQ
RAM: 16GB DDR4
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB
256GB SSD + 1TB 5400RPM HDD
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MRW12RC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

I believe that the best one is Acer Predator, the second ASUS ROG and the last one HP Omen.
Of course ASUS is more expensive but it doesn't look as awful as Acer and it is much smaller.

What about the heat and loundness from these 3 laptops. I found some data about it:

HP Omen - 32 dB (idle) and 51 dB (games etc.) and heats up to maximum of 54°C
Acer - 33 dB (idle) and 50 dB (games etc.) and the temperature on the back near screen gets to around 50°C, maximum 57°C
ASUS - 33 dB (idle) and 50 dB (games etc.) and the cooling system keeps it around 30°C and 50°C near the exhaust area

So my questions are:
Is this first one (acer) capable of inserting additional HDD drive?
Do You have any expirence with buying laptops from amazon?
Isn't the temperature of 57°C too high?
And of course which one would You recommend?

I would recommend the Acer, i think it has an addiitional 2.5" drive slot. I do not have experience shopping on Amazon but i believe it's easy to use; while you're at it, you could take a look at some comparable Lenovos and Dells. Cheers!
