i7 2670qm not running at full capacity??

i have an acer 5950g laptop with i7-2670qm 2.2 ghz, according to intel website it can run at 3.1 ghz max. however the turbo boost monitor only show cpu running at 2.8 ghz max

kindly provide any solutions

Either it's been artificially capped or it's getting warmer then it would like, I'm betting on the later. Make sure you have the vents clean of any debris and that's about all you can do.

If your running programs that fully utilize 4 cores then that's perfectly normal. The maximum turbo boost clock only applies to one core at full load while the rest are idling to almost idling.

Here's how the turbo boost is set for you:

1 core 3.1Ghz
2 cores 3.0Ghz
3 cores 2.9Ghz
4 cores 2.8Ghz.

i have cleared the interior of dust regularly, plus acer website says it can go to 2.8 ghz max only for some reason

Are you running on battery or do you have your laptop plugged in? If it's running on battery your laptop will perform slower to conserve power.

my cpu are constantly at 2.79ghz when playing arma 3, any software i can use to find out the temperature? it should over heat since ambient temperature is rather low and i have external cooling pad

update on temperature, 5min in game in arma 3, highest core temp is 73 degree C
when im playing war thunder, tmeperature rose to 86 degree C
