i7 vs A12 Laptop

Hi,

I'm looking for a good black friday deal and have found these two:

I really don't know anything about AMD so can anyone say which would be better for day to day use.
I'll do some light gaming on it (cities skylines) but the plan is to build a tower and then remote desktop onto it to play games when away from home (rather than buy a full fledged gaming laptop).

The dual core i7-7500u is more powerful than the A12-9720P which is about equal a 4th or 5th generation Core i5 CPU. The GTX 950m is far more powerful than the integrated Radeon R7 (Bristol Ridge). Both are similar in price, but the HP Envy x360 is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop, while the HP Pavilion Power 15-bc350sa a "traditional" gaming laptop.

If it was to use mainly as a remote connection to a more powerful desktop at home would they both be suitable, or is one better?

I actually have no experience connecting remotely to a desktop (or server). A lot would depend on the internet connection, but I think both should be fine.
