[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]Wow, you are serious f**ked up in the head, please tell me you don't have access to children.[/citation]

Your so arrogant, do a little research and you will learn that he isn't fu**ked in the head. If anyone should be kept from children its you. You would have there minds closed up so tight, removing any ability to think for themselves, but I guess that's how society should be huh?, everyone praise the government as they steal your property and tax you into poverty.

[citation][nom]killerclick[/nom]In the US alone in 2009, 33,963 people died in traffic accidents. That's the lowest number since 1954 and still that's like ten times 9/11, mostly attributable to human error. I'd feel a lot safer in traffic if it were automated. I want auto cars like in the Minority Report. Then we'll be able to do away with traffic lights. I'd also feel safer with automated flights, that would be even easier to implement.[/citation]

I totally disagree about the flights... I would feel less safe about the flights. What would the computer have done if put in the situation that happened with the birdstrike and the landing in the Hudson. Do you think that the computers in the next 10 years could have made the decisions that he did and set the plane down and saved all aboard?

There are situation currently everyday that we face where a computer just is not up to "creative thinking" or as we call it, thinking outside the box. Where this captain did things that were not in the book, but were learned over the years probably saved lives.

You go climb on you automated flight with no human pilots, and then realize that at take off you lose all thrust and all the computer can do is run through simulations to save your life. Until the day that computers learn, and computers become sentient, is the day I left them drive me around and fly my plane.

This remind me of onstar... if you are running from the cops and you have onstar, you soon won't be running anymore... soon the government will have the kill switch for everything.

Talks in CA where the STATE regulates the temp in your house and you have no say because they can control everything from their smart grid. Sorry that your Dr. says your disease is worsed by warmer temps, but we the government decide that you now have no control over how warm you keep you house, what time your TV is on and so forth.. and it will all be in the name of this crumbling global warming scam.....

Global warming/climate change is the world governments change to grab control of everything it can.... and what will be even better is they will push forward as the temps continue to drop. you read it hear.... we are 10 years into a 40 year cooling trend.... Cooling in the 60-70, warming in the 70-80-90-00 and cooling in the 10-20-30-40.

Call natural cycle and has been proved over and over, CO2 LAGS temperture increases by decades..... increased co didn't warm the earth.... the warm earth released the CO2....

A good idea for now. I think there is probably a limited lifespan (in the long term) for self controlled single person vehicles in the world anyway but for now something like this might be a step forward. With one caveat, for now, we need an overide choice. Traffic lights sometimes fail or get locked on a colour as well as other issues.

How about some modifications to the idea. In principle, the idea has some great merits (mostly for FUTURE cars, not present cars). The underlying problem with this idea is that NOBODY should want the lights forcing your car to do things you don't "necessarily" want it to. And for electric cars, it's pointless since the engines turn of automatically ANYWAY when you come to a stop (I'm pretty sure this is correct). So it is only applicable for cars that have an engine that runs while it is stopped. I, for one, would WELCOME some type of technology that would at least let us know how LONG the light is going to be red for, or green for, even a sign next to the stop light knowing that information (kind of like the cross-walk signs). This, in and of itself, might meet with some resistance from law enforcement as people might gun it to make a light that only has a few seconds until it turns yellow/red. That aside, if wireless is the way to go, then setup a standard mechanism for transmitting the pertinent information at every light at every intersection. I'd "guess" it might have to be infrared since it needs to be somewhat directional lest the car not be able to determine which wireless signal to "listen" to without GPS information. Then, let the DRIVER of the car react to the information. For example, pulling up to a light that is red and a sexy British accented female voice saying something like, "The light will be red for another 90 seconds." Then, the DRIVER can decide what to do... LIKE FIRE OFF A FEW TEXT MESSAGES! 😛.

[citation][nom]regulas[/nom]Every time you read about some kook law being passed and dig into who passed it, it is almost always the Demorats, that's why.Look at NY, we will tell the restaurants how much salt, no trans-fats, they are even trying to demonize Ronald McDonald now, so yeah liberal kooks on the left are the main nanny state idiots.[/citation]

They're both equally responsible for the "nanny" state we live in. They just go about it in different ways. Democrats through social programs (i.e. healthcare reform), republicans through war and more police state laws (i.e. patriot acts 1 and 2).

Republicans and Democrats are nothing more than two sides of the same coin. Beyond that, there's been seamless integration between the last several administrations; Bush-->Clinton-->Bush-->Obama have all moved basically in concert, toward destroying the greatest country in the world.
