ICS Problem

I have two laptops both with fresh installs of Windows 2000 Pro.

The Main laptop has wireless card and connects to the internet
perfectly.

It is connected to the other (Client) with a xover patch cable.

Both computers are using DHCP enabled in all NIC's and share files ok.

I have enabled "share" on the wireless LAN but am unable to access the
internet from the Client.

I have followed the procedures in this link to the tee and still having
problems.

Does anyone know of anyone that I could email or phone to get some one
on one assistance with this. I'm sure its just something simple but
beyond me.

Once this is set up I will be accessing the internet through a modem
when
I'm on the road in motels when broardband is not available. Am only
using
this set up for set up purposes.

Not one person in the ZD Labs ever got ICS running, it's clunky at
best. Just use the award winning free program Proxy, by AnalogX.

Have you considered disabling DHCP and just assigning IP addresses to
each of the NIC's (e.g. 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3)? Actually, first
find out what IP address block the wireless card is getting. What I
mean is: when your first laptop connects to the wireless network, it
will get an IP address. If it's 192.168.0.X, then you should probably
use 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.3 for your manually-assigned adresses, so
you will never have a conflict with the LAN and wireless IP addresses.

Do you know what I mean? You can find out the IP addresses assigned
currently by doing "ipconfig" in a "DOS Prompt" command window.

I used ICS a long time ago to share a connection between my Win2K
desktop and my WinXP laptop and it worked fine. I seem to think I did
have to assign my own IPs to make it work, but I wasn't sharing over a
wireless card, either.

I'm still not sure why you don't just simply get a 2nd wireless card
for the other laptop? I picked up a USB wireless adaptor for a friend
over the weekend for $12.95 and I have been testing it on my laptop.
Seems to work great.
