Identifying a Speaker

I recently bought an iPhone dock at al local thrift store made by Centrios, called a Black Twister. It has 4 speakers and is round, however, it has two AAA batteries in it, but no apparent use for them. Doesn't work without being plugged in, and the only other thing I could think of was to keep the time when unplugged, but that doesn't happen either. Any ideas? There's nothing online about this speaker that I can find.

Maybe it did work on batteries at one time. You got it used at a thrift store, chances are pretty good something may be wrong with it.
