Currently my laptop is the Asus ROG Zephyrus GA 502. It currently has a 500GB NVME SSD. I want to add another SSD. I have the empty slot. I am wondering if there is any extra software or windows things i need to do before hand. Or is it just plugging it in?

So long as the machine is powered down, you can add another SSD and when you power up, it will be recognised it as D/ You can divide into partitions if you wish.

Don't use it as a backup drive because that drive could go down if the machine breaks down. Backups should be stored in a fire proof box.
