If it doesn't work now, it will probably never work again.

Well there's no way of knowing that just yet - - you'll have to get a new a/c adapter of the correct type, plug it in and try it.

If the laptop still won't turn on, it's most likely to have suffered internal hardware damage.

I meant the power cord....unless it gets repaired...and most people don't spend time repairing power cords...so I didn't go down that road.

Right - - new power cord then - - you definitely don't repair them unless you intend to chop off the damaged part completely and use what's left if it's long enough.

If the damaged part is undetermined then you replace the entire cord.
