Change the power profile to high performance on battery power.

This is fairly typical, though. Gaming on the battery will destroy the battery life very quickly.

The laptop slows itself down when on battery since the battery simply cannot deliver enough power to have the laptop run at full power. Just keep the charger plugged in if you want full performance.
