I'm looking for an encryption app.

I wan't to be able to jot down some notes, user names and passwords in my iphone/ipad and store them safely....I'm not really worried about some industrial espionage...just more geeking out on it. My question is this: In getting an app, installing on my phone what prevents the maker of the app from looking at my data...how would one even know if the app is a door into the very text that you put in there? Curiously, Mike.

This is very difficult, usually.

You either go for a very well-known, trusted vendor like Symantec or Microsoft (and hope that a government hasn't pressured them), or use Open Source software, and either review the source code or check that a trusted party already has.

Newer iPhone's have native encryption support. What model is your iPhone?
