increasing laptop backlight

hello
please tell me a software to increase laptop backlight,it is so dim
my laptop is toshiba satellite a215-s4697
i have tried few,but those are not compatible with my laptop
and also paradoxically while charging backlight decreases and while running on battery backlight increases
it is running on windows xp
please help me friends

Download the power management drivers for the laptop if you have not.
Check the power options to make sure you have them set correctly for brightness, or turn them off to keep full brightness all the time.

If things are reversed, did you replace the screen? If you did, you need to get the correct model for the laptop you have.

Backlights do go dim over time and can totally fail, if you can't get it working with the laptop options, you will need to replace it.
