Insignia TV won't power on

I have a Insignia TV Model NS-19E310A13. It has been working great until today. The tv's red standby light is on so i know it has power but when I press the power button on the remote or the TV nothing happens. It won't turn on. The red power light doesn't turn off like it normally does when you turn the tv on. Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Bad power supply is the most common problem. Capacitors will often be puffed up or leaking. If you can solder try replacing them but get 105 degree instead of 85 degree capacitors since these will last longer. If you are not comfortable with doing your own repair it may not be cost effective on this size screen TV.

Thank you for your advice.I'm comfortable taking things apart and fixing them. Before removing a capacitor or capacitors do I need to discharge them? If yes what would be the best way to accomplish this? Thanks again for your help.
