It will soon be possible to use a remote desktop connection to a VM on Amazon.com.

Why not get a Windows Tablet and run say Google's Official SDK on it which comes with a full Android emulator, so you can set your tablet to emulate any specific hardware or device, you can set the screen res, the memory, choose which version of android to run. I admit I have not tested this on a tablet yet so I dont know how well or fast/slow it will be but there are also some other options I came across.
The first is an android app emulator, so it just runs an android application in windows it's called BlueStacks App Player and you can download it from http://www.bluestacks.com/app-player.html the other option is YouWave which is similar to the official google android emulator in that it provides a complete android operating system, you can download a free trial at http://youwave.com/download.html
or if you like you can build the same program without having to pay for it by using VirtualBox although this requires a lot more technical knowledge than the other options & instructions can be found here: http://www.android-x86.org/documents/virtualboxhowto

So to all you people saying you cannot run Android apps or Android on Windows are incorrect!
Yes You Can run android apps on non android hardware but it requires a program called an emulator which then "emulates" the android hardware and basically provides a way for the cpu to understand the instructions.

I read thru this, what about running windows 8 on a Dell Venue 8. from the looks of it, it is the same hardware as the Venue 8Pro (windows version) as the standard Venue 8. Intel Atom processor, 2 gb ram, 32 gb space. etc. etc.

I just started my search, so if some one is already doing this, please dont flame me :)

The dell venue 8 is running on x86 hardware. Things have changed since this thread was originally posted with android-x86 project porting it to x86. As well as intel porting their own x86 build which I believe is the version the dell venue 8 runs. But they are different versions of android, not a single android os that supports both. Some android apps will not work on it but I've seen most updated already to run stable on both arm or x86. Windows is planning to get rid of rt so we will have an os that can run on both. I'd expect android and others to be doing the same. There are still going to be issues with installing it on something that originally didn't have it. Everything needs drivers for the components and they may just not exist.

I would imagine that if you are able to bring up the bios of the tablet then you could boot off of a usb with the Windows 8 ISO. This would allow you to install your precious windows OS onto your android tablet. Windows should reformat & partition the drive for you so installation should be rather easy.

You (the OP) asked about installing Windows on an Android tablet.

Even if You do get Windows on a low-end tablet (that is a high-end Android tablet) You will not be happy with its performance. Windows needs a lot more silicon than does Android.

The correct questions is: How do You install Android on a Windows tablet? I have a VirtualBox VM of Android on the laptop I'm answering You from, and dual-boots are very possible.

He owns an android tablet already so asking how to install android on a windows tablet is completely irrelevant to him.

He hasn't posted in 2 months now and people are still posting to this. A mod needs to close this.

Before you close this, consider that Windows CE 5 was commonly run on early PMPs (c 2006) allowing many Windows features to be run. PMPs are ARM and if you don't know what a PMP is, they are/were early versions of tablets. Most had 4" - 5" touchscreens, hosting ability, played movies, music, games and had things like calendars, document readers, photo viewers etc. I don't know if today's tablets will run CE but it may be worth a shot.
