Installed asus graphic card and sound is not working

My video died so I installed a new one but now no sound on my pc. I have gone to sound properties and unable to select any device. the speaker icon on the notification area has a red x on it and says no audio devices installed
please help

Did you have Windows look for new devices? Also, I am assuming that it is on-board audio, in which case you may want to try tweaking your BIOS.

Hmm...ATI or NVIDIA; ATI cards have an onboard audio chip which might be conflicting with something...
