Hi all, I'm planning to get myself a Samsung 840 250 GB (not sure yet if basic or pro - that's another matter) to replace mu current laptop HDD. I was wondering what is the best way to get Windows on there. I don't plan to clone, so figured I basically have two options:

Either download a Windows iso, burn it, and use the Windows key on the back of my Laptop when installing.

Or: create a recovery disk from the recovery partition on my HDD, and use that one.

I figured the first option would be nice since it doesn't come with all the bloatware that most likely does come with the second option. I wasn't sure it would work though, since there might be things I don't know that stand in my way. FYI: I have a drivers disk. What do you think?

Download the iso and follow THIS (W7) or THIS (W8) guide for setup.

Download the CURRENT drivers for your laptop from Toshiba - don't use the disc that came with the laptop.

Whoever made the laptop, go there and get the current drivers for the OS you're installing.

Senior moment :pt1cable: I don't know where the Toshiba reference came from - must be old age.

Download drivers from your laptop manufacturers site.
