1. Switch the SATA mode in the BIOS to ATA
2. Get XP drivers from the Inspiron support driver download section. Get the Intel ABG/AGN WiFi, Sigmatel Sound, and 8600GT XP drivers from the Vostro 1500 download section.
3. Don't install Dell webcam drivers. Generic XP drivers work better AND won't crash with Skype.
Just made the change and everything works better and faster!
