Seems to me like the x86 platform is going down hill, and the ARM platform is on the rise. Even Microsoft is planning to support ARM processors in the next generation Windows. This is really bad news for Intel. If this continues, other CPU manufactures might be able to jump in on the processor race. And the next thing you'll hear is that China develops a set of ARM CPUs that rival Intel's flagship processors in both the desktop and mobile space. 🙁

Clueless dumb ass detected.

In your view, how do you think x86 and ARM would play out in the future?

[citation][nom]billj214[/nom] every time Intel goes outside of what it's good at usually flops! Rememeber DLP chips?[/citation]

\cough "Texas Instruments"

And just to prove your point... Remember USB, Bluetooth, X series SSD's? Your right everything Intel touches except CPU's turns to crap.

I suppose you work for free.

You might want to review your source.... Charlie is known for making shit up....

BTW...
Whether or not Apple is actually planning to launch ARM-based MacBooks and MacBook Pros is unknown. And as with all other Apple rumors, take this latest report with a grain of salt, since Apple is notoriously secretive, and many rumors don't pan out.

Oh yeah....and SemiAccurate has declared the sale of Skype to Microsoft as being final, when it's still pending regulatory review....

It's Official - Skype is now dead, Microsoft has bought the firm

Which is far from true at this point. The sale won't be "official" until the regulatory review is completed and the sale is approved by the US Federal Trade Commission.

This info has been posted on various sites online, not just cnet. Still no one can proof the validity of the news. Regardless, Apple seems to be thinking about moving to ARM. And this thought is enough to make Intel nervous. Think about what happen when everyone in China dumps Intel for Loongson... :)

There is no progress without compensation, sorry.

@milktea

Like I said, dumb ass detected, only now it's dumb ass in sight.

Mac as no market share compared to Windows. Thus making their RUMORED use of ARM chips meaningless.

Same with Windows 8 supporting ARM art. It only makes sense to put in support for a product that might catch on. A little hard to make an OS compatible with a different architecture after it's main code has been released in a retail product. So if ARM catches on it would put Windows at an disadvantage.

Windows doesn't depend on it's following of cultists for products to be sold.
