One concern is that if shrinkage is the aim of the game, might future portable devices include only 1 USB-C port, making connecting to headphones and charging at the same time impossible?

As soon as manufacturers can eliminate all analog connections, easy copying of audio files can be shutdown more effectively. At the moment, anybody can still playback and re-record a high quality analog copy, then re-encode it to a practically indistinguishable copy. How Apple (and others) would love to eliminate that possibility!

Right there with you, and not even for price. My favorite headphones took a while to find. It's like finding the best kind of shoe for one's self. I don't want any parts changed, and you can pry these headphones from my cold dead hands.

Maybe a Y cable supplied with the device?

Copying audio will be still possible, its just wire a headphone speaker output to a microphone jack :)

Anyway, im with guanyu and henry, i don't want to buy a new 16 channel mixer or buy a analog-to-digital adapter who can ruin my audio quality
*Sorry for bad english*
