I am thinking of installing the MS Intellimouse Explorer software on
my HP Pavilion 3000 series laptop. I like the touchpad a lot, but
sometimes I need an actual mouse. Has anyone had problems with the
touchpad after installing the Intellimouse software? When the
Intellimouse is not plugged in will the laptop simply continue working
with the touchpad? Thank you for any input or advice.

We use a MS usb port mouse on our HP ZD7000 notebook all the time with no
conflict with the touchpad. Unless there's some feature that the MS
Intellimouse software has that you need there's no need to install any
software to use it. Windows will recognize the mouse when you plug it in and
all the standard functions work just fine with the standard built in MS
driver.

Have a new compaq and no problems with the same mouse. If I'm going to be
mousing around, I often turn off the touchpad so I don't bump it.

I'm not sure if I read somewhere that the intellimouse software was
already built into XP. After reading some of the posts on other
newsgroups this does not seem to be the case. I was using another
mouse on the usb and it did work fine, but I like the feel and the
extra functions of the MS Intellimouse Explorer especially with
FireFox. Thanks for the replies folks.
