So the security place i work had wifi coming into the shacks for the computers we use to scan vin numbers on the cars that come through.
We can have internet on our personal laptops if we plug into the phones (yes I know its VOIP).
How come it works on some and not others? (Some of the shacks have switch boxes, some dont.)
So for example: one shack has no switches but I can get internet.. another has switches and I can get it there also.
However, one has no switches and I cant get internet and yet another has no switches at all and my switch box only works for their laptop.

Why are they all so different?

Have you asked the IT folks at the workplace about this? Does company policy allow personal devices to be used on the company network?

My boss knows we do it.... so technically yes its allowed. Is that your issue with my question?

Yes and no. The IT guys should be able to resolve. If it works for some devices, but not others, it could be a local configuration issue.
