No proper FPS games work well with on-screen controls but the quality of the graphics has to be lower. Id had to compromise freedom for better graphics because the chip cannot handle the workload without dropping frame rates. Expect more on rails shooters to follow next year as everyone jumps onto the bandwagon of pleasing eye candy with no freedom of movement. They get boring pretty quickly

Actually the HD woks on the 3GS but it will run slower.

This is what Carmack said:
"We wanted to make the HD version only for iPad and 4G, but there was no way to prevent a 3GS from buying it. We wanted a selector base either on ram > 128 or resolution > 480, but no such option exists,"

There are only two rail fos games that I can think of on app market and guess what they are both made by "id." Look up Epic Citadel and download it, the demo runs off the unreal 3 engine. I'll put an end to this debackle. Thats a freaken pc game engine running off either DX9 or 10 of which the little GPU can handle. Get use to the fact that the new handheld game age has emerged, and sa good bye to the PSP's crappy graphics.

I wouldn't call the PSP graphics crappy. It's the best in terms of handheld graphics nowadays but most of the games are still way better than the ones on the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. The lack of proper controls will always be a problem. Also the PSP is 6 years old and there's a new on the way. So when the new console is launched we'll do a comparison.

So... I've seen Epic Citadel and now Rage HD on the iPhone 4. Both look amazing - but, they are not what I would call "real" games. If the movement control of Epic Citadel was combined with the shooting of Rage HD - that would be a cool game.
