Few PCs in current use have a USB C port. Buying a new PC would not be an inexpensive solution. My wife's new Samsung phone came with a USB 3.1 to USB C cable. So with the new IPAD air, sure you can buy an adapter. Not the point. Apple should provide an adapter based on these facts. The Ipad is technically not fully useable out of the box. You have to buy an adapter to connect to your PC (unless you bought a new PC yesterday and specified USB C ports) and you only find that out when you open the box. Reviews of the new Ipad Air should warn potential buyers of this shortfall in Apple's egocentric thinking. After all, that is why we read reviews so that we can discover the hidden pitfalls on any new device. Many newer systems have USB-C ports now. Also, using an adapter or replacement cable for those that lack a USB-C port is an inexpensive solution.

BTW, most modern smartphones are also using USB-C and have the same "issue". Really not a huge issue for most users these days.
so they should said usb c charge cable. not for usb a, usb b, mini A, mini B, mini AB, micro b, and not micro ab?'USB C charge cable' does not specify what is at the other end! USB 3.1 or USB C?
they do. give them more $$$ to buy adapter from apple store.Apple should have care for their customers: all their customers.
No review has mentioned that the included cable is just USB C to USB C. How many computers have a USB C port??????!!!!!! Ok it works with the charger but if you want to connect to your PC and Itunes you are stuffed! Well done Apple.....NOT!
