I am sorry, but this article is extremely dumb! Why on earth owner of Pixel 7 Pro didn't just go and buy official USB-A to USB-C fast charging cable and went into the holidays without any issues, but instead just generated this stupid article after buying some shady third party slow charging extension?
It's not that simple in my experience. Maybe I don't have an "official USB-A to USB-C fast charging cable", but I have a number of original USB-A to USB-C cables and USB-A adapters, which work fine with my other expensive USB-C devices, fast charging and all. Meanwhile, when I got my Pixel 7 Pro, it refused to charge at all with most of my combinations of cables and adapters. I finally found a pair that worked but was very slow, which forced me to buy a new adapter.
It looks like Google simply didn't include older charging protocols or something like this. Why did they do that is beyond me. At least Apple does such things to force you to buy new hardware from them, but Google doesn't seem to be in the business of selling chargers and cables.
Having said that, generalizing from a badly designed phone to the whole industry doesn't look particularly smart to me.
