I just recently bought the Sennheiser G4ME Zero's and my friends say that the mic is kinda meh. Not bad.. but could be better if that makes sense. I have an msi z170a pc mate motherboard and was wondering if a soundcard or amp was neccesary for better mic quality or maybe i have set the settings wrong

A straight down to the point answer is its not necessary to have a amp/soundcard but they do help. I had the game zeros and I also had the problem of a meh microphone. Most of the time it matters on the manufactures but yes a amp or soundcard would help.
Hope this helps

Yea it kinda sounds like it but on mine there is a very high amount of buzzing/static in the background. I tried to enable noise cancellation in the Realtek Audio panel but when i do it only slightly lowers the static but it's still there and it worsens the sound of my voice.

And it's not because i have an AC or something running in the background. The only other sound in the room other than me is the pc which is rather quiet.

do you have gain turned up high?

it could certainly be poor quality onboard audio although it may also be ground loop

-check gain to see if its high. if it is turn it down.
-perhaps try a ground loop isolator if you get constant buzzing.
-if both of the above fail, perhaps try a soundcard.

I'm very new to this sort of stuff, could you explain how to check the gain and how to adjust it? Is it inside the Realtek audio panel or somewhere else? Also a ground loop isolator is a component you have to buy separately right?
