Is it better to connect headphones to case or speakers?

Hey,

Just wondering : is it better to connect headphones to case or speakers?

The case front panel has an headphone jack which is connected directly to my MoBo (ASUS-p8z77-v deluxe). My other option is to connect the headphones to my speakers' headphone jack.

I've googled it and the only thread about that was not quite what I was looking for.

Any advices?

standard stereo headphones?

it should not matter.

the default audio device should switch from speakers to headphones if you plug them into either port.

I'm using Sony MDR-V6 studio monitors. Normally, I plug them into my firebox headphone jack, but when I'm not recording or anything, I put it away...
