Is it OK two have more than one anti-virus/spyware programs scanning the computer at the same time? I have multiple running, I just want to know whether the scan gets affected in any way if there is more than one program doing it?
Only possible conflict can appear that one will detect another as malicious software during background scan. Different companies did that on purpose before to discredit competition.
you should only run one antivirus suite (they tend to think the other one is a virus) and as for malware scanners i do not beleive they have that issue....but i recommend just running spy-bot 2

I generally only have 1 running and have another to do an additional scan
avast/avira/ms essentials + malwarebytes
I have two active protections. Avast + Comodo IS and spybot and mbam for aditional scan. Never, i mean never had any issues.
Only issue's encountered were with old BitDefender's and Kaspersky's internet suites which i would not use if Eastern bunny brings them to me with new car (i would take the car ).
Two active anti-virus scanners will most definitely cause problems as both fight over access to files. You can have multiple AV suites installed as long as one, and only one, is designated as the live shield. Multiple malware programs don't have that problem.
