Is it possible for audio to lag?

Is it possible for audio to lag and if so how would I know?

I'm asking because I think I might have damaged a usb port, and I plugged my headset back into it, and it's working but I'm wondering if it's lagging.

Definitely. Especially if your using audio over a USB port, there's a good chance of lag.

The only time it would matter is while in music production or while watching video. Have you watched a movie? Was the sound in sync?
