Is it possible to upgrade laptop GPU? (Alienware M15x)

I would like to upgrade my Alienware M15x GPU. I'm currently using AMD's HD 5850m and I would like to upgrade it to AMD's HD 7970m. Will my Alienware have enough power to power up the card?

you would have to call Dell and enquire about the upgrade options and how much they are. Dell would be the only place that would sell the upgrade since they are unique to your laptop model.

Typically only an option for Alienware, but yes it's possible.

I wouldn't put it past them, labor is always expensive even if it's simple to do.

Maybe more, but Dell won't upgrade it for me... (of course ) But Dell said it is possible installing AMD's HD 7000m series card, but will overheat. So I was thinking about upgrading it to a 6000 series card. I'm also going to upgrade my display to a LED (95% Gamut) Thanks for the tip
