Is nikon coolpix p900 a good camera?

Hey, I'm a beginner at photography, and I was saving up to buy a new Semi-pro camera
I saw nikon's coolpix p900 and I really like it, but I don't know if I should buy it or buy a DSLR in the same price range? can someone give me an advice on which camera I should buy and why?
I'll be using the camera for travels and maybe taking photos of family and friends

While the Coolpix P900 may be a fine camera it does not offer the ability to change lenses. As you get more into photography you may want a camera with interchangeable lenses. Two Nikon's in that price range to consider are the D3200 and D5200.

if you don't want to spend money for zooming lenses, NIKON COOLPIX P900 is a great option.
