is quad core worth it?

im a computer science major,. im debating between the following 2 laptops. the main difference is that the Toshiba is quad core. is it worth the extra $200 for that reason alone?

Multi Core processors is better than non multi cores or a processor with less amount of cores by performing multiple tasks at once. This helps significantly at multitasking or have a bunch of software open at once.

You also have to look at the manufacture technology (nanometers and architecture), clock rate and the amount of CPU cache to appropriately tell which CPU is better.
