Hi there. I was wondering if getting Sony Vegas Pro 13 is worth it if I'm only going to use it occasionally. I will also have to take the time to learn all of it's features (I've mastered the arts of Movie Maker). The reason I was considering getting it is to further my knowledge of video editing, make intros, render gameplay videos in proper 1080p 60 FPS, and use as a general editing software. So I was wondering, is it worth me spending $400 based on my usage and needs? Keep in mind that I'm only going use it briefly, and that I have to learn ALL of the features which will take a while. Also a few more questions:

1. How hard is it to get used to using Vegas Pro on a regular basis?

2. Is there any important information I should know before buying this software? Do I need any external plugins to get the full experience, or could I just jump right in and get started?

For 'occasional use', consider a much cheaper option.

Photo Video Suite X8 from Corel http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/products/photo-video-suite/
Includes Paintshop Pro and Videostudio Pro
$99

And there is a free trial so you can test before you buy.

Do you have any experience with Corel video editing software?

Yes, otherwise I would not have recommended it.
It is good, far above a basic NLE. But obviously not up to the features of Sony Vegas or other expensive tools.

For your use..how much do you want to spend?
A free 30 day trial costs nothing.

I'd spend up to $100. Really all I need is what I put in my original post.

The reason I was considering getting it is to further my knowledge of video editing, make intros, render gameplay videos in proper 1080p 60 FPS, and use as a general editing software.
