Is there an available 2nd drive bay on Acer Aspire E 15? I want to add a HDD.

Nope. This is why if you want to be able to mod it, you are better off with a desktop so you can have this type of flexibility.

Thanks for the (bad) news. And you're correct about desktops offering almost infinite flexibility. But I have had an HP Pavilion that came with a 750GB drive. It had a spare HDD bay, though, and I was able to move the 750GB mechanical drive to the spare bay (became D: drive), and insert an SSD as primary drive (C: drive) for operating system and all programs/applications. I was hoping I might be able to tweak this new notebook likewise. Oh well...

To add an SSD to a notebook, you need to swap out the HDD for the SSD, and then reinstall the OS. You can then get a case, and use the HDD as an external hard drive via USB.
