Is this a good 37 inch tv for my $500 budget?

im going to purchase a 37 inch hdtv in the next week, has to be 37 inch and budget is $500, i narrowed it down to these

which one should i get? so far i think the panasonic is better, will be used for tv/movies/gaming on ps3, already have a monitor

thanks thats what i thought, the vizio has more contrast ratio but i heard that's a myth anyway

another question, i hear that factory settings for tvs are usually bad, is there a guide sumwhere to adjusting color settings and contrast on a new tv?
