Is this laptop any good for the price?

Dell XPS 15.6 inch laptop. 6GB RAM, intel core i7 2720QM CPU @ 2.20GHz. NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics. 500 GB storage.

for 275 with a broken battery, will this work for these games? is it a good deal without battery? How much and where do i find a new battery?

If we're talking about USD or AUD it's a good deal. Euros or Pounds less so, but still good. The broken battery is worrisome, and you could do better graphically, but overall it'll game pretty well compared to integrated graphics. That is kind of old, 275 is a really good price for the performance you will get but nowadays it will have a poor performance regardless, that is a sandy bridge i7 they are kind of old (2k series = sandy ite? -_-) and the 500 series of nvidia are also old, they are in the 800s now, even the 600s are getting to be called obsolete, so if i was in your position i would save for a desktop PC...
