Is this Y500 spec good for gaming now and the next few years, as well as rendering, heavy multitasking, and network/IT work?

Been looking for a laptop that can play games decently or well now, so that future games will be at least playable.

I'm in the US, hoping to spend about $800 - $1200. The thing I care about most is efficiency for the price and having it still be able to work and play some actual games in 4-5 years.

The Y500 seems to fit the bill perfectly for a laptop that has great hardware for the price... Although I've read a lot about people supporting it being $800 and I've only seen it for $1100 - $1300. Is that right, or did they jack up the price? Also, what's the largest (weekly?) discount price I should be waiting for to buy?

I would be open to other ideas. I was thinking about the custom Clevo/Sagers, which seem to be the same or slightly better but cost an extra $200-$300.

Here's the specs of the Y500 I was looking to buy:

He's right, the Y510p is your best bet. And if you wanted to, you could upgrade the 510p from 8 to 16gb memory (cost around $100) and also add the 2nd GT750m from the lenovo site (cost around $250). You'd be getting a newer model laptop, with a 4th gen processor instead of 3rd gen and still saving $150.
