Itunes wont install

the latest version of itunes will not install on my windows 7 pc. the only one that will install is itunes 8. when i run the set up for itunes 10.6.3 the install progress bar appears then disapears within a second and nothing happens. any idea how to fix this because apple dont seem to care.

What I found in my brief search for a solution was to download the newer version of iTunes directly from Apple and not use the updater.
