JScript commented code

We run a web application (written with HTML and Javascript) in PPC 2002 quite successfully. Now we have bought 15 new PDA's which are Dell Axim's PPC 2003 and none on my Javascript functions work unless I remove all my Javascript commented code. We use the standard // to comment each line separately as per Microsoft's standards with Jscript.

Is this some kind of bug? It just seems strange that we have no issues running it on the old PDA's and all kinds of desktop browsers but PPC2003 it is not capable of handling our comments.

In a manner of speaking, yes. This has been discussed quite a bit in the
developer groups. Manufacturers are free to choose options on top of the
basic platform, and it seems that Dell got the blend wrong.

Others have been more critical, and less polite.

Thats very weird, what ROM version do you have (I had A00 now updated
to A02 last week)

Its just that I've quite happily blazed through code on my Axim X3i,
with ROM A00, adding comments just like that with script error
reporting turned on .... and no problem with it at all. I'd better
check if this was regressive in A02 now :p

How odd !

I am not one of those affected, but I believe theROM version is significant.
I guess you tried to fix something that was not broken.

Dell knows all about the problem, but they are trying to keep it under
wraps.

That is Dell for you.

We have one A00 and the others are A01. We have the same problem on both ROM versions.

I know of someone else who is experiencing this same issue but using HP -ipaq 5550 PPC 2003. No issue at all with HP (HP iPAQ 3950) PPC 2002 version but as soon as the application is run on PPC 2003 this problem exists.

So we upgraded one of our PPC2002 Compaq PDA's to PPC2003 and again we have the same issue with commented code on the PPC2003 upgrade. (This upgrade is not necessarily the cleanest tho').

Is it at all possible that the issue could be something to do with this new version of Pocket IE? Or is it that HP is in the same situation as Dell?
