Just Curious - Battery Life Information in LCD

Greetings! I have a Sony P-10. It uses Infolethium batteries. In the
LCD it gives the information about the battery life in numbers of
minutes. In my other camera [Kodak Dx6490], I can see the battery
condition but not in such precise way. Does any other Point and Shoot
camaeras gives information of battery life in that way? Is it a Sony
exclusive? With thanks.

AFAIK it's only on the Sony Infolithium series. It's a great feature,
and seemed to be surprisingly accurate. Other manufacturers, take note
please!!! It's one thing I sorely miss on my Oly 8080, compared to my
old Sony F717.

As far as I know it's mainly Sony who use infoLithium. However you will find
the battery life is considerably shorter than a set of NiMh batteries.
InfoLithium typically give around 2 hours of use and 2 nimh's will give 6 -
8 hours. Sony is expecially bad at overcharging for external battery
chargers as well as the batteries themselves.
Cameras using Nimh will probably give about 5-10 minutes warning of expiry
and so carrying a spare set is important.

This varies from camera to camera. On my Kodak DX3600, I might get one
more picture after the battery low indicator came on, or twenty more,
with no flash. I always keep spare NIMH handy, and carry a CRV3 as backup.
