Keyboard gives different characters

My assus X53X keyboard is giving me different characters,eg,the bracket signs above 8 and 9 are not available,please help.

Yes,keyboard has german words,for qwerty, it has qwertz.

Its likely that the keyboard is causing the problem, So buy a new keyboard in your region
